Don't mis out! Book now

Famous for whales and dolphins, Kaikoura is also arguably one of the world's most exciting arenas for pelagic (ocean going) birds.

Within close proximity of the beautiful Kaikoura Peninsula, range a considerable array of albatross, petrels, shearwaters, terns, shags and gulls.

Experience the sensation of getting close to the mighty albatross, one of the world's largest flight birds.

  • Peter Langlands, an authority on Kaikoura's seabirds, writes "Kaikoura has one of the largest numbers of different types of seabirds within a small area than anywhere along the New Zealand coastline."

Albatross Encounter is located in our new Encounter venue at 96 Esplanade Kaikoura, New Zealand. The Encounter complex is also home to the famous Dolphin Encounter operation as well as the popular Café Encounter.
